Statement of Purpose

After knowing more about the world around me, the essence of learning in me broadened significantly. Being educated meant much more to me than being good. I needed to be productive element of the community that I am and would be a part of it. I got ample of opportunities to study a competitive academic environment where I could explore and express the knowledge beyond the limits of the books. I often tried to mix the knowledge that I acquired in the classrooms with my own ideas and imaginations. I often made learning enjoyable to me. I always left space for thinking, reasoning and analyzing in my studies.

I studied my first school from Valmiki Shiksha Sadan, Bharatpur, Chitwan  one of the finest school in Chitwan. Then I completed my +2 level from S.O.S Hermann Gmeiner School, Bhaktapur. My records throughout the high school were outstanding. I received merit scholarship for excellence in academics from my college. I always ranked among top ten from my college. I still have vigorous motivation and eagerness to learn more.

I wanted to grow in the challenging field of Business Studies and its related field. This is one of the spheres, which is making the impossible of yesterdays, a reality of today and going beyond to create a new tomorrow. My ambition is to focus on a career aimed at contributing to research and development in the area of Business.

Nepal is one of the poorest countries of the world which is still lagging behind in Business Field in this 21st century. The need of today is to strengthen the scientific and technological skills so that its benefit can be applied to the well being of common human. If the country is to catch up with the rest of the world the scientific attitude must replace her traditional mood and thoughts and action. To help her achieve her goals and to provide her with a quality business manpower, I would like to study further and learn the latest in Business Studies. This would be fulfilled by a degree course in the Republic of Ireland.

In the later years in my high school, as I started looking the future, I realized that I needed a place where learning would shake my intellectual enthusiasm. Then I became assured that there were places where I would be able to pursue an education that could prepare me for the rest of my life. I found the tradition of Griffith College of Dublin, of educating students to make them global citizens in every aspects of the modern life to be matched by only few other institutions. I am confident that the multicultural environment and an unparallel education system of this college will develop me as a successful individual and more important to make a productive citizen for the global community.

After the completion of my studies, I wish to explore more on Business Studies. Contributing my knowledge and creativity for the further advancement in the field of Business would be a step ahead to realizing my goal because my purpose of study is to be job creator not a job seeker. Specifically I want to expand my family’s business to make it one of the top in Nepal. Finally, I would like to close by saying I intend to go to Ireland for the purpose of obtaining a high quality degree So that I can apply that in the related field after I return back to my country Nepal.

Masters of Science in Civil Engineering
Department of Civil Engineering
Lamar University

Engineers are builders of any nation. The progress and prosperity of a nation is proportional to the number of engineers produced and utilized by it. For development of a nation, legions of skilled engineering manpower are essential in construction, maintenance, repair, upgrading, rehabilitating and replacing infrastructures. Nepal, as the world knows, is in inchoate stage of infrastructure building. With scintilla of hope starting to emerge after more than a decade longer political conflict, I feel myself grafted with more responsibilities to accept as a civil engineering professional. Increasing necessity of more technically updated civil engineers and limitedness of academic resources in the country are among a few factors that have embedded in me the desire to have a master’s degree from a US university brimful of highly educated professors and well equipped labs.

At Tribhuvan University, Institute of Engineering, I have received the best possible undergraduate education in Civil Engineering in Nepal. In my undergraduate studies, I have benefited from its broad syllabi content that gave me a comprehensive exposure to the core areas of civil engineering. Various courses like civil engineering materials, engineering drawing, applied mechanics, fundamentals of thermodynamics and heat, engineering geology, concrete technology, foundation engineering and transportation engineering have provided me a strong footing in basic concepts of transportation engineering. Besides, courses like Management of Construction and Maintenance, Technology, Environment and Society, Engineering Economics and Project engineering have dispensed knowledge on community works and management.

Nepal is a country well known for its idyllic landscape spanning from the highest point on the globe, Mount Everest to the southern plains just above 60 meters of the mean sea level. Although, almost seventy five percentage land of this country is covered by the hilly and mountainous region, most of the people of this country depend on agriculture. So the agricultural sector has vital importance in the economy of this country. The diverse topography of this country includes numerous rivers, ridges and valleys, is always a challenge for the transportation of these agricultural products to the place of its consumption. At present, railways and airways are too costly and not so feasible in this country; the field of road transportation has vital importance. At present the suspension and suspended type trail bridges and foot trails are contributing in the field of transportation in the hilly topography for crossing the rivers. Also the primitive type structure known as Tuin, a single cable structure across the river with a box hanging down from that cable connected by pulley, is in way of life. Better results on economic advancement as well as convenient traveling can be excepted if we can convert these trail bridges and foot trails of these areas to the wider roads and suitable crossings.

Due to lack of proper technical design of the road, several errors are noted in the alignment of the road, for example: sharp hill bends, negligence in rock dip and strike, negligence in soil/rock type and nature, and high gradient of the road. Pace of construction of roads in the country is very slow and aberrant as compared to the national need.
Maintenance and repair of roads is also a challenging issue in our context because of inadequacy of knowledge on roads. These facts show that a lot has to be done in field of transportation. If I could contribute in having more stable roads in the country, I would be much obliged to transportation engineering.

Working as a civil engineer after completing B.E., I started coming across a lot of people. I was able to hone my skills by learning practical things from senior engineers in the field. At the same time, I learnt how to devolve duties and responsibility to my colleague engineers, overseers and sub-overseers.

As a civil engineer, I have always been fascinated on how I could contribute to the field of rural and urban transportation system using the knowledge of the modern transportation engineering and improve the severe situation of our country. The reputation of the Department of Civil Engineering and its faculty created enthusiasm to me to apply at the Lamar University for my graduate study. The highly expert faculty and attractive financial aid packages make me LU an ideal place for higher education. Further, the cooperative and encouraging environment to create an independent academic career by the help of different persons, including academic faculty, administrative persons of the Department of Civil Engineering enhanced me to apply to this department.

Sample 3

I often look back at my past; how I was and how I’ve changed to become the new me. The small kid who used to give speeches thanking guests for coming to his birthday party turned into a skinny, shy lad and now is a humble, honest and confident young man. All these changes in me were brought about by the change of the environment I spent my time in and the people around me.

My early childhood was strongly influenced by my parents, my father, an ardent soldier and a disciplinarian who, despite the bar of retirement, still vigor’s to work on, so that I can pursue my education and a mother who doesn’t even eat a single piece of bread without leaving a part of it for me. My father taught me manners and the importance of discipline and my mom who took care of her younger brothers and sisters before she got married taught me the importance of responsibility. They taught me to respect elders, give to the poor and to care for the old. These are qualities in me that I’ve always treasured. I have not and never will digress from the path these qualities lead me through.

As I grew older, I spent more of my time at school than at home. My school was a very strict one. The students were punished severely for the smallest mistakes. I remember many times when I was severely punished for not being able to recite a poem or spell a word correctly. This rooted a seed of fear in me and made me apprehensive. Consequently, I couldn’t open up to any teacher other than the mathematics teacher because I’ve always been good at mathematics and was never punished by him. There were times when I had questions and wasn’t satisfied with the explanations the teachers gave us but was held back by the fear within me. This was a part of my life when I was held back from a lot and was far from discovering my capabilities.

But, at grade seven, I moved to Shuvatara School. Shuvatara was a very good school with a very friendly and loving environment. The entire school was like a very big family. Every teacher loved the students, and every student got along well with each other. This change of environment brought back the confidence I had as a child. I accomplished many things when I was there. I was part of the football team of my house who won the inter house football team. My friends and I even formed a musical band on which I played the bass guitar and we performed many times in front of huge crowds. There I found my true self and everyone liked me; I was voted the house vice-captain when in grade 9 and then the house captain in grade 10. I found a new determination and hunger for glory at the spots meet after being voted the house captain of my house. I worked hard myself and participated in many athletics events and won the gold medals in most but failed to win the 1st prize for my house.

Now that I have become mature enough to understand my sense of righteousness, no change of ambiance holds the same skeptical consequence like it once used to hold on the vulnerable me. I am a positive young man competent of exploring the world. The self assurance I have in myself allows me to stand up for myself and overcome any obstacle that might come my way. My eagerness to learn and my determination to be successful in whatever I do ensures that I will pursue my aim of becoming a successful Mechanical Engineer with the vigor and vitality of what a youth is capable of and am certain that University of South Alabama will help me in achieving my goal. I commit to dream big, because no one can tell me of my incompetence of doing anything. Only those incapable of effort instill negativity of incapacity on others, and that certainly is not a part of my priorities. I believe now in protecting my dream, tomorrow in embracing it and eventually in achieving it with the help of this university, even if it means that I navigate dangerous waters, sail upon the zephyrs of uncertainty, I have a big dream and I don’t see anything stopping my way.

Statement of Purpose
The examination of the algorithmic processes that describe and modify information; their efficiency, implementation and application is what I find most appealing about computer science. Being among the most challenging and exciting areas of research and development, computer science has provided practical tools for innovation and principle behind creative model building.
I am looking forward to graduate study to enhance my knowledge and technical skills in my areas of interest.  I believe it will also serve to give direction to my goal of a career as IT professional at an academic or commercial, research-oriented organization. So I intend to pursue an MS degree in order to reach that goal.
By the time I had finished my Intermediate in Science in first division, I was strongly determined to build my career in computers. So I enrolled in Diploma in Information System Management (DISM) training. Starting with programming language GWBasic, I learnt the basics of the programming structures. Later I learnt how the programming skill of visual programming tool Visual Basic helps to efficiently manage information systems. During my training period, I developed small projects on database such as “Airline Reservation System” and “Banking Transaction System” using MS _Access as back end and Visual Basic as the front end application. As an intellectual neophyte, having curiosity and inquisition in Computers, I spend a lot of time reading different computer books, articles and magazines
To satiate my appetite for greater knowledge in computers, I enrolled for Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Engineering. During my undergraduate tenure in Computer Engineering at Nepal Engineering College, I explored the traditional computer science curriculum, along with a range of other courses. Some of the courses which impressed me were Microprocessors, Computer Architecture and Organization, Data Structures and Algorithms, Database Management Systems, Computer Graphics and Image Processing. I developed a number of hardware and software projects during my college days. “Design of 2-bit Programmable Array Logic (PAL) using Transistor Transistor Logic (TTL) “demonstrated the economic use of large scale integration component (LSI) in implementing specific Boolean functions. “ Hotel Automation Software” a minor project under software Engineering and design was a database program that demonstrated how the customer and management service information system is managed in a small scale organization. The final year project on “Design of bio-medical instrument Pulse oximeter” was the only project under bio-medical instrumentation. I designed a bio-medical instrument pulse oximeter that displayed the oxygen saturation in blood (SPO2) and pulse rate. Though highly miniaturized lab-on-a-chip systems have recently modernized health care drastically, this project was a successful attempt towards understanding and implementation of the working principle of non invasive bio-medical instrument. Since there has not been much research and advancement in the bio-medical engineering field in our country, this project won appreciable remarks form the external supervisors as well.
After successful completion of Bachelor’s degree, my objective is to attend University of Missouri-Rolla’s Masters in Information Science and technology with specialization in enterprise resource planning. I would like to research on business information management softwares that include application design, configuration, and customization and upgrade services. More specifically, I would like to research on implementing automated business processes facilitating greater user adoption and operational efficiencies. I think a focus on enterprise resource planning will help to integrate multiple software modules to provide various business functions of an organization to envision the goal of reengineering. I expect that this research would entail studying new technologies that help to plan, implement and manage crucial information assets. I feel that obtaining a Masters Degree program in Information Science and technology will allow me to get the technical understanding and research techniques necessary to make information technology easier to use and make it more accessible to individuals. I am impressed with dynamic graduate program MS in Information science and technology offered at your university. I like its well equipped laboratory facilities, vast array of research opportunities and excellent faculty. My research interests are also in complete concurrence with your MS in Information Science and Technology program. Upon completing my graduate Degree, I want to work as information technology professional in an organization back in Nepal. Being one of the developing countries, Nepal lacks skilled IT professionals to implement efficient strategies to manage crucial information. Obtaining a graduate degree will help me to make strong contribution in the field of Information Technology in my country.
Finally, I feel that graduate study at University of Missouri-Rolla will be the most logical extension of my academic pursuits and a major step towards achieving my objectives. I would be grateful to you if I’m given the opportunity to pursue my graduate studies with financial assistance at your university and I assure you that I will do full justice to the opportunity given to me.

Sample 5

Statement of Purpose

I would like to introduce myself as Abcd Xyz, born in Kathmandu, capital of Nepal, in a middle class family.

Regarding education, after finishing my schooling, I completed +2 from Nobel Academy with second division and pursued three years bachelor’s degree from St.xavier’s College. I enrolled as a regular student in the Faculty of Arts for study in the Bachelor of Social Works (BSW).

I would like to mention that my parents have always been committed and devoted to social works. I have been highly inspired by my parents’ works dedicated to the poor and helpless people. They always used to encourage me to do something for the poor saying that “service of human beings is the worship to the God.” Since my parents, for more than two decades, have been spending their time and hard-earned money for the cause and benefit of the poor and helpless people, I have been inspired and my interests too have been gradually veering towards social works. Hence, my deep rooted interests in the poor and helpless people and their problems largely motivated me to study social works. With this interest in mind, I joined Bachelor of Arts in Social Works and have passed BSW with a second division.

Study in social works and practical works in social sector led me to bring into positive changes in my life. During three years course in the BSW, I worked as a trainee in various NGOs in Nepal. I got an opportunity to get myself involved and work with street children, adolescents/youth, factory workers, drug addicts, PLWHAs (people living with HIV/AIDS), elderly women and many more. This provided me an opportunity to interact with various kinds of people and vulnerable groups as well as to get acquainted with the real problems of needy people. All this led me to realize about the needs of the poor and their hardships for survival. This realization and  learning made me more interested in further study in social works in the future. The urge to learn more never felt enough.

In Nepal, there are a lot of NGOs working for various target population. However, there are very few professional social workers working in these organizations in this field. Even for a few years back, St.Xaviers College was the only institute in providing graduates degree in BSW. The country like Nepal needs professional and hard core social workers who have both understanding, skills and techniques to deal with the people and find solutions to their problems.

After finishing my BSW with lots of learning and skills, I started working at Family Planning Association of Nepal (FPAN) as a volunteer. I was a member of the Central Youth Committee of FPAN and my voluntary works at FPAN were for 6 years.

FPAN is a Non Governmental voluntary organization (NGO), it aims to help individual couples plan their family to lead a healthy, happy and prosperous life. Its establishment and subsequent advocacy programs have had an important impact on Nepal’s population policy and programs.

At present, I am working as a regular staff member at the Family Planning Association (FPAN) where I started to work in an honorary capacity for more then 6 years. All this is a great privilege and pride for me. At FPAN, I am holding the position  of a Youth Educator. My past experiences in the social sector working as a volunteer and the learnings and skills through BSW have enabled me to shoulder all kinds of responsibilities and deal with the problems with patience, courage and confidence. The way in which I am working at FPAN as Youth Educator has appreciated by the seniors.

I would like to become a successful professional equipped with updated skills and understandings in the field of social work so that I could help the community people and vulnerable groups with their problems. More specifically, I do believe that social work is actually helping people to help themselves. Moreover, it is all about enhancing peoples’ attitude and capacity to solve their problems by themselves.

I do believe that I will find an opportunity to get myself involved in the study of social sector in your esteemed University which would greatly prepare me for my career goal and put me in an advantageous position in the competitive journey ahead.

Successful completion of BSW, work experiences and people around known to me have suggested that at present I am ready to be able to secure admission to pursue studies in social work  at your University.

I have full confidence and do believe that you will consider my application positively and would provide me the privilege to study in your University

STATEMENT OF PURPOSE

The sophistication of the modern world through science has always captivated my mind and led me to pursue on it. A broader concept of science in my higher secondary education and a well honed mathematical dexterity trailed me to the realization that engineering would allow me a career most satisfying and rewarding. I have always had a zeal for research and experimentation since a very young age, a trait that burgeoned with my academic years. The potential I perceive for advanced study and research is unlimited and that is alluring me to enter graduate school.
In the quest of quality education, I chose to go to Bangalore, the capital of the southern Indian state of Karnataka, for my further education. The high-tech industries such as Aerospace, Electronics, Computers and now fast spreading software have made Bangalore their home due to easy access to a vast pool of scientists and engineers in the city. While attending EWIT, I benefited from the breadth of Visheswaraya Technology University’s syllabi content that has given me a comprehensive exposure and conceptual understanding to the core areas of electronics and communication. During engineering, I made several paper presentations and project demonstrations. In the four years period I was much interested in the communication subjects. Moreover, I have gained a lot of theoretical as well as practical application oriented knowledge in this field. The undergraduate program gave me a strong background in the fundamentals of various electronics and communication subjects. To establish myself in communication engineering I opted to carry out a project on “Cell Broadcast Decoding “as my major undergraduate year project and final year seminar on “RFid”. The research possibilities and more importantly practical implementations of the project are stimulating me to take this field for further specialized studies.
Four years of Undergraduate studies in Electronics and Communication Engineering have been extremely fruitful. I have been introduced to multitude of topics ranging from the very basics like Telecommunications, Computer Architecture. Though the undergraduate course content is thoroughly challenging, immensely educating, and economically gratifying, I somewhat lack a sense of satisfaction. This is because engineering sufficed me to do only the groundwork. Among the various fields I studied, few of them have completely engrossed my interest. I have an urge to explore deeper into these fields, perform constructive research and become a dedicated academician. Only this will enable me to bold a career that rewards me with some satisfaction. And rewards of such a nature from such a career far outweigh the compensations available in the industry. Hence, a graduate study is the only ideal platform for me to do so.

My past record interest depicts a gradual enhancement of my skills, with a natural inclination towards Information and Communication Technologies. The Master of Information Systems (MIS) program provides the knowledge to successfully apply information systems theory and principles to address real world business opportunities and challenges. Personal satisfaction also plays a key role in my career decision, while monetary rewards are of practical importance. I enjoy acquiring new skills and information, which help me to adapt the fast changing world, as well as pique my interest in innovation. In addition, a career with open prospects would give me constant incentive to improve myself and to gain knowledge. Students from the Master of Information Systems will be well prepared for careers as: information systems developer, system analyst managers, system designers, information manager, electronic commerce managers, database administrators, consultants, and company managers. The graduate program will help me to understand the role of business systems within the organization, to understand and apply the principles of systems analysis and design, to analyze and evaluate information technologies, and to create project, risk, and information systems strategic plans.

My decision to pursue graduate study in the United States is underscored by my desire to be a part of the graduate program at your institution. It is further my intention to get back to Nepal after my studies and apply in practice the knowledge gained. Although the area of study in Information System is quite challenging, my enthusiasm in learning more in this area of study has brought me thus far. To me this engineering is a very significant aspect in our society, and it is becoming increasingly vital. Technology has been emphasized in all aspects of life. I have gained a great amount of exposure and knowledge in this program and I will build on what I have learned. Nepal has been making tremendous strides in technology the last few years and the momentum will only increase in the days to come. Being a priority development area for Nepal, there will not be any dearth of opportunities to work in this field here.
My insatiable thirst for learning, my accomplishment, and traits have together instilled in me the confidence and faith to perform constructive research in the field of my interest. In addition, I would add to the diversity of the class, interacting with people of various national background and cultures. In the process, they can learn more about my beautiful country, Nepal. I hope I fit in your idea of a promising graduate student.

Thanking you.

Sincerely you

Personal statement
By: [yourname]

Living in a small but stunning country, Nepal and in the city of the temples, Kathmandu, I would like to introduce myself as Niresh Maharjan as simple and as generous as a typical Nepali should be.  Since I am from  a nuclear family, I 've been brought up as an independent guy, 'independent' in the sense that I am used to making my decisions on my own often guided by self- motivation. My parents have been encouraging and supportive and I considered myself blessed to have been borne to such parents.

When I look into myself I see an enthusiastic, appealing and assertive young guy in me. Sincere and persevering by nature, I believe that if you are passionate and give your best in whatever you do, you will in turn achieve the best. I think that we should get engaged in something only if we are interested in it, so that we can stick to it, and then only good outcome can be attained. Life is like a rollercoaster in which we have to face lots of ups and downs sometimes leaving us on the top of ecstasy while other times at the bottom of the grief. Life is a learning process, and, from the cradle to the grave; we can learn something valuable from every incident of life. There may be many hurdles in life that try to let you down, but they should not lead you to desperation, rather edify you. Many a time, we find ourselves in the situations when decision making seems to be the toughest but the most important job, and the same is the case with me right now. I find myself at the verge of my life when I have to hit the head of a nail to assure my successful career. The right decision that I take in this little moment determines my future.

If I had had a time machine I would have turned back into my past and rectify all my errors but I can't. What can I do is I can commemorate my bygones using my blur vision. I opened my eyes for the time on 2nd of November1987. As a child, I was admitted to the contemporary reputed school named Siddartha Vanasthali Institute Balaju. School with all the necessary infrastructures. The school had really helped me in my personal development both by providing me with formal education and persuading me to take part in the extracurricular activities. At the end of the day I passed out the S.L.C. often called 'the iron gate of one's life' with securing first Division. The school helped me in bringing out the best in me and recognizing my hidden talents and boosting my confidence. Then as a teenager, I joined Siddartha Academy, one of the best Management schools of Nepal, for higher secondary education. What I believe is that schools are not meant merely for formal education but for the personal enrichment of a student as a whole, so I used to involve in the cultural shows and other sport events held at my school.

Now I find myself at the brink of the time when I have to decide upon a good college that leads me to a secure career. I am focused on the fact that one is responsible for his own identity. Not just studying and hardworking, but decision making too plays an inevitable role in shaping up your future. That is why I have decided to pursue my higher education in USA. The fact that American education is much practical and professional has inspired me to take such a decision. I feel that the old orthodoxies need to be smashed and new approach to the education system should be introduced to build a modern Nepal and hope that this decision of mine would help me for it. Due to this noble reason, I am applying for admission in this university, hoping that studying in one of the best universities; I would be able to accomplish my goals. I would be more than happy if you consider me for it.

Statement of Purpose

As there is a simple saying ‘Health is wealth,’ it is really a fact thing. If you have a sound health, you can be  wealthy but if you are invalid or sick you can’t do anything. So, knowing this significance, I was always inspired by my mom to study medical science from my school days. After finishing my school leaving certificate examination, I joined the science stream and passed it out.

Later on I got interested in dentistry which was quite a new subject matter in my country Nepal during that time. Since my mom and even I had to face many dental problems and had to visit the dentist frequently, i was motivated into it. I went to Dhaka, Bangladesh to study BDS [i.e Bachelor in Dental Surgery] as there were no dental colleges in Nepal. Studying there was a wonderful experience. I  saw and learned a lot of things out there. Now I came to acknowledge that oral health is such an important subject which is taken as a granted by most of the people.

Human beings survive by consuming food. The mouth or oral cavity is the main entering door for the food and thus plays a major role in the keeping one’s body healthy and fit. So, if your mouth is clean and healthy, you have a healthy life.

I’ve been working as a dentist since two and a half years in a private dental clinic. It is in a remote place called Baglung where people have to face many difficulties. I want to serve the people my best but due to lack of so many things I get fall behind. Though I have been trying to help them in every possible way, the help we provide is not sufficient to meet their needs. During my journey of work, I’ve seen many unhygienic and neglected oral conditions. With such conditions, there is no other alternative beside extracting the teeth. Some of the patients also suffer from life threatening serious infections just because of a simple caries who has to undergo major surgery. To promote the oral health, I’ve been involved in many dental camps by giving free dental services organised by different clubs and organisation.

Here, in my country, being a developing one, there is no systemic management in the government hospitals. They cannot provide the required number of doctors to give the services whereas on the other hand many of the doctors get unemployed. In some of the places people are deprived of even simple things. The government cannot afford the required equipments also. There is a lack of postgraduates in my country, especially in health management. To serve and fulfill the burning need of the people and provide them proper help and treatment a well and highly equipped and trained manpower is a must. Seeing this, I feel sad and have made a decision to do masters in health management so that I could contribute a lot by promoting and making a revolution regarding health management in my country.

Statement of purpose

“While there’s life there’s hope”. This proverb has always struck my mind and heart. It adds fuel to my soul, and I believe the struggles we face are just what we need for our potential and greatness. I have always been taught that having a good mind isn’t the important thing but it is very important how wisely we used it. Hence, after completing my high school with science major, I have always been so enthralled to use my mind and to gain more knowledge in the field of science that my knowledge would serve entire mankind.

Being a student, I never took study as a burden because I knew that one day it would take me to the heights. I did my schooling from Sudesha High School, which is an English medium school. I completed my school leaving certificate in 2005 with first division. I completed my high school from Caspian Valley College which is the one of the popular college of Nepal as it provides quality education on English medium and its practical labs and extra activities lure students to gain education. I finished my high school education in 2007 securing 69.5% in science faculty.

I am very much interested to pursue my higher education in the field of computer science. Its wide areas of research and new challenges that come up everyday with it have fascinated me to take this subject. I personally think that by the means of computer we can change whole world in the path of development which leads us to live a quality life. Nowadays computer are being used in all the sectors. This technological advancement is so vast, so tremendous and rapid that it may lead to extraordinary results. Computer task take over most of the activities of human beings. So, by these reasons I am more interested in choosing this field. My aim is to become a computer expert and give as much benefits and contributions to entire world.

Sports has also played a major role in my life thus far, I was in college’s basketball team as a captain. I can never forget the joy of winning the inter college basketball tournament. I was presented with the ‘Best sportsman’ award from my batch. Balancing studies and sports was quite difficult, but looking back, I think I managed it pretty well enough.

Beside sports and my education, I also managed time for taking different trainings. Till now I have taken Earthquake preparedness training. I hope this training will help me to protect my society from big loss during an earthquake. Further, in national festivals I have done volunteer services by managing crowds. I also participated in blood donation program. I believe that serving people is higher than serving a god.

USA’s education system is the one of the oldest yet the best in the world. It has great reputation and world class facilities. So, I am very much interested to get my higher education here. Moreover, graduation from USA will strengthen my global information perspective, and provide me with the opportunity to study and learn from people with varied backgrounds.

I admit my career aspirations are ambitious, but I know that I will attain them with the right kind of education and guidance. I am confident and capable to take on the challenges and responsibilities that lie ahead of me in achieving academic success. I know life path is stream with umpteen obstacles and uncertainties. But one who has a firm wills, patient heart and passion for goal will see through it.

Since I am deeply interested to gain advance knowledge in computer science and I am so much committed to it, I am hopeful that your university will provide me an opportunity so that my knowledge will grow and my contributions will be fruitful to the humanity. I would be an ideal candidate for your university as I am performing very well academically and have good social backgrounds. I hope that my dedication towards excellence in whatever I do, and my good academic results, qualify me for admission to your university. I look forward to create my own niche in the international family of students in your university. It would be a great pleasure and honor for me if your university give me a chance to ensue my undergraduate studies. I hope that you will find in me a deserving and a creditable student for your highly esteemed university.

Statement of Purpose

Health is one of the crucial factor in one’s life. It can affect the life standard of every individual. Some disease like HIV-Aids, hepatitisB has even threaten the whole world.

Nepal is a developing country. It is blessed with majestic himalayas and mountains. On the contarary, this has caused many problems to the country.  Due to the geographic structure people still have to walk for several days to weeks to go to a nearby town to buy or collect their daily necessary goods. Majority of the people in the rular areas haven’t seen face of a doctor. They have to walk for several days to reach the nearby health care centre. In case of emergency condition they have to be carried on people’s back or in stretchers for help. No vehicles are accessable. Most of the sick people loose their life on their way. Even if the patients reach there on time, they won’t get the right treatment at right time due to the lack of trained health worker and equipments.

I was a fair student in my school life. My enthusiasm and determination lead me to accomplish good grades. I went to Bangladesh for my bachelors. Due to my good academic background my teachers used to like me a lot. I always used to come first in all exams and even topped Dhaka University.

After completing my bachelors in dentistry from Bangladesh I started my practice in rular areas of Nepal. I, being a dental surgeon, have seen many patients who have to walk for several days even weeks to have their teeth treated. Some of the cases get so worse by infection that even with a cause of simple caries [tooth decay] they have to undergo operation under general anaesthesia. Worst thing is that those people are usually poor and can’t even afford the cost of  medicine. The cost of operation is beyond their imagination. There are no such organisation that can help the poor and sick people. The government hospital is the only place for them. But  those hospitals are also in pityful conditions. They lack proper manpower, facilities and technologies.

More than hundreds of doctors are produced a year in Nepal. But everyone wants to live in big cities especially the  capital (Kathmandu). Everyone says that they have worked so hard to earn their degree and they don’t want to struggle again to live and practise in the rular areas where there is deprived of all facilities. So, most of the doctors stay in the capital or go abroad for further studies.

What I believe is that Nepal has abundant doctors and other health workers but deny to work in rular areas. Due to lack of proper management those resources are being wasted. In urban areas doctors are stuffed without any work where as in rular areas people don’t find any even in an emergency condition.

In Nepal, hospital management are handled by a senior doctor who has an experience in his clinical practice but not necessary have the knowledge about management and administration. I strongly believe that the body who holds this post should be trained and qualified, those problems could be solved not just in an organisation level but also nationwide.

I have been working in one of the rular area for several  years in private dental clinic. People here are treated in least cost just enough to raise the money for the material. Some needful people are treated for free. But due to economical condition we can’t afford all modern technologies and helplessly we have to refer them to other health centres. From time to time we aslo provide free dental camps to different rular areas in coorpation with other organisations. I even practice Reiki as an alternative therapy to the poor people who are seriously ill and don’t have enough money for their necessary treatment.

With further education in health care management I hope to serve my country with a good well organised, ecomonical and easily accessable organisation.

USA is well known for its education and is worldwide recognised. Therefore, it would be my sincere pleasure to have a golden opportunity to study there and bear the responsibility to improve the hapazard condition in health cure in Nepal.

STATEMENT OF PURPOSE

The phrase "Getting the right information to the right people at the right time" of computer science is what I find most appealing. Being among the most challenging and exciting areas of research and development, computer science has provided practical tools for innovation and principle behind creative model building.

By the time I had finished my Intermediate in Science in First Division, I was strongly determined to build my career in Information Science and I believe it will also serve to give direction to my career as a professional at an academic or commercial, research-oriented organization. So I intend to pursue my computer engineering degree in order to reach that goal.

I would like to research on Business information management software that include application design, configuration, and customization and upgrade services. More specifically, I would like to research on implementing automated business process facilitating greater user adaptations and operational efficiencies. I think a focus on enterprise resource planning will help to integrate multiple software modules to provide various business functions of an organization to envision the goal of reengineering. I expect that this research would entail studying new technologies that help to plan, implement and manage crucial information assets. Upon completing my Bachelor's degree, I want to work as Information technology professional in an organization back in Nepal. Being one of the developing counties, Nepal lacks IT professionals to implement efficient strategies to manage crucial information. Obtaining an American degree will help me to make strong contribution in the field of Information Technology in my country.

Finally, I feel that bachelor study at University of South Alabama will be most logical extension of my academic pursuits and a major step towards achieving my objectives. I would be grateful to you if I'm given the opportunity to pursue my bachelor studies with financial assistance at your university and assure you that I will do full justice to the opportunity given to me.
